    Pinhead - politics, punk and the 40 year anniversary

    In 2001, North Kensington resident and prospective parliamentary candidate for Witney, David Cameron, shared with the Guardian newspaper his view on how politcal communication should be more like Punk. Now emerging artists from Central Saint Martin's, in association with Fruit for the Apocolypse, take time out at Acklam Vilalge to explore the modern legacy of punk in light of its 40th anniversary.

    Kensington and Chelsea gave rise to some of the punk era's most notable moments like Malcom McLaren and Vivienne Westwood's shop SEX on the Kings Road & The Clash playing beneath the Westway flyover. For some, the 40th anniversary rightly commemorates these moments in time but there is also an uneasy feeling; can you really have a mainstream cultural celebration of counter-culture?
